چکیده
The meagre Argyrosomus regius, one of the largest sciaenidae in world, is a valuable resource for fisheries and aquaculture. Despite its socioeconomic relevance, knowledge about population dynamics wild stocks still scarce, conservation risks are associated with overexploitation. Two genetic distinct groups, North Atlantic Ocean eastern Mediterranean Sea, were identified by previous studies. However, little known structure group, where four important spawning areas have been identified. To assess if each area an independent breeding unit, diversity, populational structure, demographic history A. regius along North–East Eastern Central coast analyzed, using 15 microsatellite loci. Results corroborate hypothesis tested, suggesting groups: first group encompassing individuals from Gironde area, second Tagus third corresponding to captured Algarve region, forth gathering Morocco Mauritania. This study reveals need specific management plans considering information, highlights international cooperation.

OBJECTIVE The aim of this study is to describe the first report of Ichthyobodo spp. infection in meagre (Argyrosomus regius) fry in a marine aquaculture facility in Turkey. METHODS The material of the study was composed of 30 meagre A. regius in 2-3 g weight taken from the fry adaptation unit of a fish farm in the Aegean Sea. In this study, parasitological and pathological examinations were p...

Two different batches of meagre Argyrosomus regius were stocked in the same floating cage located in north-eastern Sardinia (western Mediterranean Sea). After 4 mo, the fish started showing non-specific disease signs, such as lethargy, emaciation, gill anaemia and mortality. In total 65 specimens of meagre of both stocks were sampled for parasitological and microbiological analysis, and only 1 ...

Between September 2006 and April 2007 the authors transported one 0.9 m wingspan Mobula mobular from Olhão (South of Portugal) to Valencia (East of Spain), 12 approximately 1.0 m long Argyrosomus regius to Tarragona (Northeast of Spain) and four approximately 0.4 m long Mola mola to Atlanta (GA, USA). These journeys had a total "water to water" duration of 17, 22 and 33 hr, respectively. The fi...
